Plans are in motion for a potential visit from President Donald Trump to the Black Hills in summer 2026. The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed preparations are underway for Trump to attend the Independence Day celebration at Mount Rushmore.
While the president has not officially confirmed his attendance, both Governor Larry Rhoden and Representative Dusty Johnson extended invitations earlier this year to join the July 3rd fireworks show.
The event coincides with the United States’ 250th anniversary, and Mount Rushmore is prominently featured on the White House’s America 250 website.
