A boating accident on Lake Oahe has claimed the life of a Hill City man. The Potter County Sheriff’s Office says a 9-1-1 call was received Friday afternoon around four-pm of two men in Lake Oahe near the Dodge Draw Recreation Area northwest of Gettysburg. Upon arrival at the scene, responders recovered Toby Keller from the water; administered C-P-R and transported him to shore where he was pronounced dead. The Gettysburg Fire Rescue team used a pontoon to reach the accident scene. On arrival they located a trash bag with empty beer cans and a bottle of whiskey, but no indicators of a vessel. South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks conservation officers used an underwater scan and determined no further people were underwater. William Bradford of rural Hughes County was identified as the operator of the boat at the time of the accident. Bradford was taken into custody on a charge of Boating while Intoxicated. The case is under investigation by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.
