Police arrested a Rapid City man late Wednesday night following a reported knife assault on East Anamosa Street.
Around 9:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 700 block after receiving reports that Cass Mesteth, 40, had attacked another individual with a knife. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Mesteth fled the scene but was located shortly afterward driving a 2011 Chevy Silverado. He was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including Aggravated Assault, Felony DUI, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.
The case remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, Police are also investigating a stabbing that occurred just hours later early Thursday morning in the 100 block of Waterloo Street.
Around 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a call reporting the incident. The victim told police they were doing laundry when an unknown man began harassing them through a laundry-room window. After a brief exchange, the suspect left but later returned, reached through the window, and stabbed the victim.
The victim sustained injuries and contacted police immediately after the assault. Authorities say that investigation is also ongoing.
