The Spearfish City Council voted unanimously to sell 12 additional lots in the Sky Ridge housing development to Hills View Homes at reduced prices to offset unexpected excavation costs.
City Attorney David Knox said the developer discovered several lots required more grading than anticipated to ensure quality and usable backyards. To help absorb the added expense and keep home prices stable, the council agreed to lower the sale price of certain parcels.
Under the amended agreement, lots on Centauri Avenue will be sold for $18,200 each, while others in blocks five and six will remain priced at $20,000 to $21,800.
The council approved transferring the 12 lots through the Spearfish Economic Development Corporation to Hills View Homes for a total of $222,000.
