Fire crews responded early Friday to a structure fire at a three-story home on the 600 block of Miners Avenue in Lead.
The Lead Volunteer Fire Department arrived around 5:30 a.m. to find heavy smoke and flames pouring from the eaves. Firefighters launched an aggressive attack while searching the home for victims and the fire’s source.
Departments from Deadwood and other areas assisted. On the second floor, crews encountered flames above and below, prompting a shift to an exterior attack. Hidden fire inside walls and roof voids required extensive overhaul to fully extinguish hot spots.
No injuries were reported.
