The eighth round of saturation patrols under Operation: Prairie Thunder wrapped up Friday, December 5, with law enforcement activity in Belle Fourche, Huron, and Yankton. This marked the second set of patrols in those communities, following earlier efforts from November 12–14.
The patrols unite the Highway Patrol with city, county, and federal law enforcement partners, allowing agencies to share resources and reinforce one another’s community-based safety efforts.
Totals released by the Department of Public Safety show that operations seven and eight led to 75 arrests, including 42 drug-related charges and 33 non-drug offenses. Officers also executed 9 felony warrants, 5 misdemeanor warrants, and captured one parole absconder.
