A multi‑day manhunt concluded Wednesday afternoon with the arrest of 37‑year‑old Jeremy Taylor, a fugitive wanted in two states who was considered armed and dangerous by authorities.
According to law enforcement officials, Taylor was safely taken into custody after being found at an outbuilding near a residence in Fall River County, around 4:30pm. The Rapid City Police Department and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office had been searching for Taylor since Friday, following a traffic-stop encounter in which he allegedly fled and nearly struck an officer before disappearing into heavily wooded terrain.
Taylor, who had been the subject of public alerts, was wanted on an active Ohio warrant for gross sexual imposition, in addition to South Dakota charges that include eluding, resisting arrest, and obstruction.
Authorities note his apprehension is the result of hundreds of personnel-hours, and law enforcement working around the clock across a multitude of agencies, including the U.S. Marshals, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Rapid City Police Department, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Fall River County Sheriff’s Office, Hot Springs Police Department, Hot Springs Ambulance, Pennington County Dispatch, U.S. Forest Service, and Mt. Rushmore Park Rangers.
