Former council member Laura Armstrong has announced she is running for the Ward 5 seat on the Rapid City Council, saying she is eager to return to City Hall and continue serving the community.
Armstrong, who served on the council from 2017 to 2023, highlighted her previous leadership roles, including two terms as Legal & Finance Committee chair and two terms as Council President. She said her campaign will focus on accountability, transparency, community engagement, and responsible growth.
Since leaving office, Armstrong has remained active in public service, working as a speech pathologist with Black Hills Speech Pathology, serving on the Black Hills Humane Society Board, and acting as Executive Director of the Minneluzahan Senior Center.
Armstrong said she wants to strengthen communication between residents and City Hall, support infrastructure needs for a growing community, and promote a strong local economy that helps families, seniors, entrepreneurs, and young professionals.
