Black Hills Energy has issued an emergency Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Watch for rural areas near Edgemont, Provo and Ardmore due to high fire‑risk conditions expected Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
About 180 customers could lose power if conditions worsen. The shutoff is a wildfire‑prevention measure used only as a last resort.
Vice President Wes Ashton said safety is the company’s top priority and warned that changing fire conditions may require a shutoff with little notice. Impacted customers will receive updates through text, email, local media and the company’s website.
How to Prepare
- Update contact information on the Black Hills Energy website.
- Plan ahead for refrigerated medications or electrically powered medical equipment.
- Build an emergency kit and share plans with neighbors.
- Stay away from downed power lines and call 911 to report them.
