The South Dakota Legislature is gearing up for another packed week in Pierre as lawmakers dive into taxation, education, health policy, and continued budget work.
Today, committees meet early, including House Taxation, Health and Human Services, Senate Judiciary, and Agriculture and Natural Resources, with more hearings throughout the morning. Both chambers gavel in for floor session at noon.
Wednesday brings another heavy lineup—Transportation, Health and Human Services, Appropriations, State Affairs, Education, and multiple afternoon hearings across both chambers.
Thursday, lawmakers reconvene for Judiciary and Taxation, followed by Transportation and a key Joint Appropriations meeting as budget work intensifies.
And on Friday, the week wraps with Local Government, House Judiciary, and another extended meeting of the Joint Committee on Appropriations
Today is the 22nd day of the 38 day legislative session as lawmakers return to Pierre after the Presidents day holiday.
