Travel South Dakota earned seven honors at the HSMAI Adrian Awards this week, recognizing excellence in travel marketing. The awards, now in their 69th year, are the industry’s largest competition.
Tourism Secretary James Hagen said the awards highlight the creativity and partnerships behind the state’s marketing efforts.
Travel South Dakota’s campaigns were selected from more than 800 global entries. Two earned “Best of Category” distinctions. Winning projects included a GoPro winter adventure campaign, the “All Types of Crazy Welcome” Sturgis Rally campaign, and an arts and culture initiative that generated nearly $10 million in lodging revenue.
Additional awards recognized the Forever 605 stewardship campaign, the “So Much South Dakota, So Little Time” brand effort, an influencer program that added 29,000 new followers, and South Dakota’s Apple Maps travel guides, which drew more than 175,000 views.
The South Dakota Department of Tourism includes Travel South Dakota and the South Dakota Arts Council and is led by Secretary James Hagen.
