A proposal to add a half-penny to sales tax for homeowner property tax relief has been sent to the 41st day.
Senate Joint Resolution 507 would ask voters to set the state sales tax at 5 percent and put the extra half penny into a homeowner relief fund.
Sen. Amber Hulse is the bill’s sponsor
The Department of Revenue pushed back.
Jason Evans of the Department of revenue says the resolution spreads the impact statewide.
The committee voted 5-to-4 to send the measure to the 41st day.
