Trevon Spotted Eagle, 31, pleaded guilty Monday in Pennington County to two counts of aggravated assault for a 2024 shooting on East North Street in Rapid City. Police say he shot a man in the head with a sawed‑off shotgun. He had originally faced a second‑degree attempted murder charge but accepted a plea deal.
Prosecutors are recommending two consecutive 12½‑year sentences. When asked what happened, Spotted Eagle told the judge he was intoxicated and couldn’t remember.
Sentencing is set for March 30.
