Governor Larry Rhoden on Thursday signed HB 1043, a measure aimed at strengthening rural health care recruitment across South Dakota.
The bill provides funding to reimburse health care professionals who complete the state’s rural recruitment assistance programs.
HB 1043 builds on HB 1044, which Rhoden signed earlier and which funds the Rural Health Transformation Program.
The governor also approved two additional appropriations bills:
- SB 67, which allocates money for emergency and disaster response and declares an emergency;
- SB 68, which funds wildfire suppression efforts and also declares an emergency.
With Thursday’s actions, Rhoden has signed 58 bills into law this session and issued one veto.
