South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley is praising a state Supreme Court decision that upholds multiple felony convictions against Kolten Bradford Ware from criminal cases in Lawrence and Meade counties.
Jackley said the ruling confirms Ware entered his guilty pleas knowingly and voluntarily and that the circuit court handled the cases properly.
Ware was arrested six times between December 2023 and October 2024 on charges including aggravated assault on law enforcement, grand theft, aggravated assault and drug distribution. He later appealed, claiming he misunderstood his parole eligibility in a 2023 Lawrence County case, believing he would serve 75 percent of a 10‑year sentence rather than the full term required by law.
The Supreme Court rejected his arguments and upheld all convictions and sentences in the consolidated appeals.
