Police are investigating the death of a woman who was found dead Sunday evening on Cambell Street.
Officers were called around 6:19 p.m. to a business in the 2000 block of Cambell Street for a report of an unresponsive woman. They found 79‑year‑old Linda Nowell of Hill City deceased at the scene.
Police say surveillance footage shows Nowell in the area earlier Sunday morning. She had no significant visible injuries, and investigators say minor injuries consistent with a fall were noted. Based on early findings, foul play is not suspected.
Detectives have tracked Nowell’s recent travel from Denver to Rapid City on March 14 and are working to determine why she was in the Cambell Street area on March 15.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
