South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says the state will receive $677,920 from its settlement in the national antitrust case against Live Nation and Ticketmaster — a deal he says will also help lower entertainment ticket prices by increasing competition.
Jackley said “Live Nation created an illegal monopoly that raised costs for entertainment in South Dakota,”
The settlement requires Live Nation to allow competitors to list tickets on their platforms and limits venue exclusivity contracts to four years.
Jackley said South Dakota is among the states that have now formally resolved their portion of the case. South Dakota was among nearly 40 states and Washington, D.C., that sued the company over its control of the live‑event market following its 2010 merger.
