Operation Prairie Thunder carried out its 12th saturation patrol on Friday, March 13, in Hot Springs, continuing the program’s community‑focused enforcement efforts.
The initiative partners the South Dakota Highway Patrol with city, county, and federal agencies for coordinated patrols designed to boost public safety and improve interagency collaboration. Participating agencies pool personnel and resources to support each other’s enforcement and community‑safety work.
Leading up to the Hot Springs operation, over 1,000 drug charges have been filed, Nearly 250 warrants executed, 20 parole/probation absconders arrested and over 2,100 traffic citations were issued.
63 people have been referred to federal immigration authorities.
