No injuries have been reported and no homes have been lost, though three outbuildings were destroyed according to officials fighting the Coyote Flatts Fire near Rockerville. Tom Several properties sustained damage and an unknown number of wildlife were affected.
The fire started Wednesday evening about two miles southeast of Rockerville and had burned roughly 385 acres by Thursday. The cause is under investigation. Crews stopped the fire’s forward progress and officials declared 50% containment late Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters continue mop‑up around the perimeter and near homes. Ground crews, engines, and bulldozers remain on scene, with aircraft available if needed.
Crews faced challenging conditions under a Red Flag Warning, with warm, dry, windy weather increasing fire danger.
Meanwhile, The Qury Fire near Custer has burned over 9,100 acres and is at 44% containment.
