Secretary of Corrections Nick Lamb announced that Eric Aldridge has been appointed the first warden of the Rapid City Correctional Facility, set to open this summer.
Aldridge brings 30 years of experience in corrections, most recently serving as warden of the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women in Virginia. He holds degrees in criminal justice and public administration and will begin his role in South Dakota on April 1, 2026.
The Level III facility will house 300 medium and minimum custody offenders and include a Mother‑Infant Program, a therapeutic community model for substance use disorder treatment, and a Business–Entrepreneurship Program in partnership with the Department of Labor and Regulation and Western Dakota Technical College.
Staffing is underway, with positions posted on the BHRA website. DOC and BHRA will host a Meet the Employer event on April 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. MDT, at the DLR Rapid City Job Service Office.
