Sturgis officials have announced nomination petitions are now available for residents interested in running for mayor or the Ward 1 seat on the Sturgis City Council in the city’s June 2 municipal election.
Petitions can be picked up at Sturgis City Hall, though candidates may not begin collecting signatures until Friday in accordance with state law. To qualify for the ballot, candidates must gather at least 50 valid signatures from registered Sturgis voters.
Completed nomination petitions must be submitted to City Hall by 5 p.m. on May 1.
The June 2 election will determine who fills both the mayor’s office and the Ward 1 City Council seat.
