Two Rapid City men on parole were arrested Monday evening after a reported shoplifting incident led to the discovery of fentanyl, police said.
Officers were called around 5:30 p.m. April 6 to a business on Eglin Street for a theft report. The suspect fled in an SUV, which was later stopped nearby. The driver, Gregory Hadlock, was arrested for theft and a parole hold.
A search of the vehicle uncovered fentanyl linked to passenger Reed Hess, 29, who was later found nearby with stolen merchandise. Hess was arrested on theft charges, possession of a controlled substance, and a parole hold. Both men were transported to the Pennington County Jail.
