Rapid City’s public transit system recorded steady ridership during the first quarter of 2026, logging nearly 69,000 passenger trips, according to city officials.
Rapid Transit System (RTS) reported 22,868 passenger trips in March. Total ridership for the first three months of the year reached 68,812 trips across RapidRide and Dial-A-Ride services, slightly below the 69,208 trips recorded during the same period in 2025 but well above the 61,298 trips logged in early 2024.
Youth ridership also continued to rise under the city’s Youth Ride Free program. RTS recorded 5,974 youth trips in March and 18,921 youth trips for the quarter, marking an increase from 17,618 trips in the first quarter of 2025 and 15,328 in 2024.
RTS has provided public transportation services to Rapid City residents and visitors for more than 30 years.
