Authorities are investigating a suspicious death after a deceased individual was discovered Monday afternoon at a Rapid City hotel.
According to police, officers were dispatched at approximately 12 p.m. on July 14 to the hotel located at 1313 N. Lacrosse Street following a report of a deceased person found inside one of the rooms.
Upon arrival, officers located the body of an individual believed to be an adult male. Investigators say evidence and information gathered at the scene led authorities to classify the death as suspicious.
Police have not released the identity of the deceased, and officials say an autopsy has been scheduled as part of the ongoing investigation. The examination is expected to assist investigators in positively identifying the individual and determining the cause and manner of death.
The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Rapid City Police Department and the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office.
