Rapid City firefighters quickly brought a residential fire under control Saturday afternoon after responding to a home on Oakland Street.
According to the Rapid City Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire at 334 Oakland Street at approximately 3:30 p.m.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they encountered heavy flames coming from windows on two sides of the residence. Crews immediately began an aggressive attack on the fire and successfully contained the blaze before it could spread further.
Fire officials said the home’s resident was inside when the fire started but was able to escape safely. No injuries were reported among residents or emergency responders.
As a result of the fire, all occupants of the home were displaced. The American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance and support for those affected.
