Following a week of budget discussions with department directors, the Rapid City Council has announced a special session to formally begin review of the proposed 2026 City budget.
The meeting is set for Monday, August 18 at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, and will take place ahead of the regularly scheduled City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. Both sessions are open to the public.
Residents can view the full 2026 proposed budget on the City of Rapid City’s website at www.rcgov.org. It is featured as the first item under the Community Bookmark section on the homepage, titled “2026 Proposed City Budget.”
In accordance with state law, municipal budgets must undergo two formal readings before receiving final approval from the City Council.
Community members are encouraged to attend and participate in the process as Rapid City plans for the year ahead.
