Rapid City police responded to a reported robbery last Friday at a business located at 718 E. Saint Patrick Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with an employee who described a coordinated theft involving an unidentified man and woman.
According to the employee, the male suspect distracted staff while the female suspect exited the store with two stolen bottles of liquor. As the male attempted to flee, he shoved the employee before both suspects escaped in a passenger vehicle.
Shortly after the incident, officers located the suspect vehicle traveling on E. Highway 44. A traffic stop was conducted, and the vehicle pulled into a parking lot at 3216 E. Highway 44. Police detained all five occupants inside.
The driver was identified as 31-year-old Lewis Newholy of Box Elder. The passengers included:
- Tad Clark, 36, of Black Hawk
- Jessie Dreamer, 38, of Rapid City
- Christine Bordeaux, 37, of Rapid City
- Daniel Whiteeyes, 22, of Rapid City
Officers detected the odor of alcohol on Newholy and discovered open containers inside the vehicle. Further investigation confirmed that Clark and Dreamer were the individuals involved in the liquor theft.
All five individuals were transported to the Pennington County Jail and face multiple charges.
Early Saturday morning Rapid City police responded to a window break alarm at 718 E. Saint Patrick Street. Upon arrival at approximately 2:40 a.m., officers discovered a shattered window at the location.
While investigating the scene, officers noticed a black passenger vehicle nearby that suddenly started. When police ordered the driver to stop, the vehicle fled eastbound on E. Saint Patrick Street.
Moments later, the vehicle crashed into a large rock at the intersection of E. Saint Patrick Street and Cherry Avenue. Officers quickly located the driver nearby and identified him as 18-year-old Robert Bluebird of Rapid City.
Following the investigation, police determined that Bluebird had stolen the vehicle and was responsible for the vandalism at the original address. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Pennington County Jail and faces multiple charges, including:
- Felony Vandalism
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Second Degree Eluding
- Obstruction
- Leaving the Scene of a Crash
