A delegation of South Dakota leaders, including Governor Larry Rhoden, is traveling to Ireland and the United Kingdom on a trade mission aimed at expanding international markets for key state industries—beef and ethanol.
Joining the governor are representatives from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and South Dakota Trade, all working to spotlight the state’s strengths while exploring new growth opportunities abroad.
The trip also includes five University of South Dakota students participating through the USD President’s Senior Leadership Institute. According to Klaud Beckmann, interim dean of USD’s Beacom School of Business, the experience offers students a rare opportunity to observe international business and political engagement firsthand.
With South Dakota currently ranked 47th in the nation for international trade exports, state officials are eager to elevate the state’s global presence and unlock new economic potential.
