Rapid City police responded to a report of a stabbing at 426 E. Fairmont Boulevard at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday,. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was promptly transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators believe the suspect is known to the victim, indicating the incident was not random. The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to gather more details and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
About 2 hours later on the morning of August 21, Rapid City police responded to reports of gunshots in the 700 block of E. Anamosa Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with multiple witnesses who directed them to an apartment at 729 E. Anamosa Street.
Outside the residence, police discovered several shell casings, confirming that shots had been fired. After interviewing individuals inside the apartment, authorities identified 23-year-old Bellminon Trujillo of Rapid City as the person responsible.
Trujillo was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. He was arrested and charged with Possession of a Loaded Firearm While Intoxicated and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, then transported to the Pennington County Jail.
No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
