RAPID CITY, S.D. –The Rapid City area saw it’s first measurable rainfall in a week with showers and thunderstorms moving through western South Dakota during the late evening and early morning hours.
Rapid City Regional Airport received .35 while Downtown picked up over a half an inch.
The moisture comes after another day of intense heat with a high temperature of 101 degrees reported at the airport marking the 5th day out of the last 6 with temperatures reaching the triple digits.
Another round of showers and thunderstorms are forecast for this afternoon with cooler temperatures near 90 expected. Temperatures will rise again toward the weekend with highs Saturday and Sunday near or above 100 degrees.
