PENNINGTON COUNTY, S.D. – The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim in Tuesday’s drowning at Hippie Hole as Easton Kotee, 14, of Grimes, Iowa, who was visiting the Black Hills with a church group.
According to investigators, Kotee was standing near the water’s edge when he slipped on a rock and fell into the water. First responders launched rescue efforts, including an underwater search, and recovered him at about 11:10 a.m.
An autopsy completed yesterday determined the cause of death was drowning.
