THUNDER BUTTE, S.D. — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating Kenneth Madison, a 67-year-old Native American man who has been reported as an endangered missing person after disappearing from his home in Thunder Butte.
According to officials, Madison was last seen on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at approximately 7:30 a.m. He reportedly left his residence on foot for a walk and did not return home.
Madison is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 230 pounds, with brown eyes and white hair with a receding hairline. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black jeans.
Authorities say Madison lives with a caretaker and is considered endangered because he is legally blind and suffers from dementia. Investigators also noted that he has been known to hitchhike and frequently travels in the Eagle Butte area.
Family members and law enforcement are urging anyone who may have seen Madison or has information about his whereabouts to come forward immediately.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Police Department at 605-964-2155 immediately.
