RAPID CITY, S.D. — An 18-year-old Rapid City man was arrested late Wednesday night after police received reports of a man waving a handgun from an apartment window and allegedly firing several shots.
According to police, officers were dispatched to 201 E. Knollwood Drive at approximately 10:55 p.m. on July 30 following reports that a male suspect was holding a pistol out of an apartment window. Witnesses also reported that several rounds had been fired from the firearm.
Upon arrival, officers established a perimeter around the apartment building. A male later identified as Raymond Cottier, 18, of Rapid City, exited the building and was detained while officers interviewed witnesses and gathered information.
Police said witnesses identified Raymond Cottier as the individual seen waving the handgun from the window. He was subsequently arrested on charges of Underage Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages and transported to the Pennington County Jail.
A second occupant of the apartment, Jeremy Cottier, 19, of Rapid City, was also taken into custody. He was arrested on charges of Obstruction and Underage Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages before being transported to the Pennington County Jail.
The incident remains under investigation.
