STURGIS, S.D. – The Meade County Sheriff’s Office is temporarily suspending several routine services during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally as deputies focus on public safety and law enforcement responsibilities tied to the annual event.
From Aug. 3 through Aug. 16, the sheriff’s office will not process pistol permit applications, provide fingerprinting services, or conduct jail visitation.
Officials said all available staff will be assigned to rally-related duties, including responding to emergencies, managing increased traffic, and enforcing state and local laws throughout the event.
Normal operations are expected to resume on Aug. 16. The sheriff’s office thanked residents for their patience and understanding while resources are directed toward ensuring a safe and successful rally.
