RAPID CITY, S.D. – A man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison after admitting to using artificial intelligence and other digital tools to create and possess child pornography involving two 12-year-old girls he knew.
Alex Badura was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Camela Theeler in federal court in Rapid City. He pleaded guilty in April to two counts of receipt of child pornography.
According to court documents, Badura admitted possessing about 200 images and 163 videos of computer-generated child pornography depicting the two girls on his phone. Investigators also found more than 1,000 altered images created from photographs of the minors, as well as more than 400 additional computer-generated files on his laptop.
Badura further admitted posting some of the images on social media platforms.
The case was prosecuted in federal court following an investigation into the creation, possession, and distribution of the illegal material.
