KEYSTONE, S.D. — Visitors to Mount Rushmore National Memorial will see an earlier start time for the monument’s popular evening lighting ceremony beginning Monday, Aug. 10.
National Park Service officials announced the nightly ceremony will move from its current start time to 8 p.m. to better align with changing sunset times.
The format of the program will remain the same. The evening begins with a 10-minute Ranger Talk highlighting the story of Mount Rushmore, followed by a 20-minute film that explores the memorial’s history.
The evening lighting ceremony is one of the park’s signature visitor experiences and will continue nightly through Sept. 30.
