DEADWOOD, S.D. — A Deadwood trolley caught fire on Interstate 90 Wednesday morning while being transported to Rapid City for repairs.
According to the City of Deadwood, the trolley stalled and began smoking before catching fire. The driver, who was the only person aboard, safely exited the vehicle and called emergency services. A passerby reported the fire at about 11 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
The Meade County Sheriff’s Office said the scene was handled safely, traffic continued moving, and the incident was cleared as quickly as possible.
City officials thanked the Sturgis Police Department, Meade County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Sturgis Fire Department, SD Wildland Fire and Sturgis Ambulance Service for their response.
