RAPID CITY, S.D. — Rapid City officials and the Rapid City Sports Commission will announce a major partnership today for the city’s planned sports complex.
The announcement is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. this morning in the Fleet Farm parking lot near the site designated for the future complex. Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun, Sports Commission Executive Director Domico Rodriguez, and representatives from a well-known corporate partner will unveil a naming rights agreement for the facility.
City leaders say the sports complex project continues to gain momentum following the recent donation of 22.65 acres by Pete Lien & Sons. The complex is planned for land between East Mall Drive, Seger Drive, North Lacrosse Street and Tish Boulevard, with completion targeted by the end of 2029.
Officials say the facility will expand youth and adult sports and recreation opportunities throughout the region. The Rapid City Council recently approved agreements for architectural services and facility management, while additional contracts related to naming rights and construction management are expected to be considered next week.
