STURGIS, S.D. — Traffic and crash numbers both declined during the 2026 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, according to final statistics from the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
Troopers investigated 73 crashes during the 10-day rally, down nearly 25% from 97 crashes in 2025. The crashes included three fatalities, along with 39 injury crashes and 31 non-injury crashes.
Traffic entering Sturgis also fell below recent averages. Despite the lower traffic volume, Highway Patrol troopers made 114 DUI arrests, 221 misdemeanor drug arrests, and 108 felony drug arrests. Officers also issued more than 1,700 citations and 4,500 written warnings during the event.
The figures reflect only incidents investigated by the South Dakota Highway Patrol and do not include statistics from local law enforcement agencies.
