Scorching temperatures sent residents flocking to city pools in record numbers this summer. The City’s Parks and Recreation Department reported 88,270 admissions across Sioux Park, Parkview, Horace Mann, and Roosevelt Park Swim Center—up significantly from last year’s 81,025 and far surpassing the 73,097 recorded in 2023.
Extended pool hours helped boost attendance, with Sioux Park staying open through August 30 and Roosevelt’s 50-meter pool operating until September 20
City officials are now encouraging residents to take advantage of the Roosevelt Swim Center year-round. Those interested in lifeguarding next summer can contact the Recreation Division at 605-394-4175.
