Amazon has awarded a $25,000 grant to the Black Hills Robotics Foundation to boost STEM education and support student robotics teams in Douglas and Spearfish. The announcement was made Thursday during an event at the Douglas School District.
Jon Nelson, executive director of the Black Hills Robotics Foundation, accepted the grant on behalf of the organization, which supports youth robotics programs across western South Dakota.
U.S. Sen. John Thune also spoke at the event, praising the initiative and the importance of American leadership in technology and innovation.
Although the event was hosted by Douglas School District, the funding will go directly to the foundation to assist students preparing for robotics competitions.
