Rapid City police arrested a 33-year-old man following a road rage incident in which a firearm was reportedly brandished and discharged.
Shortly after 8 am Monday morning, officers responded to a report near E. Catron Boulevard and Cambell Street. The reporting party told police that the driver of a pickup had pointed a handgun at them and fired out the passenger side window.
Police obtained a license plate number and description of the suspect, later locating both the vehicle and its driver at 2323 E. Mall Drive. The suspect, identified as August Gutjahr of Rapid City, was found with a loaded pistol in his pickup.
The reporting party positively identified Gutjahr as the individual who brandished the weapon. He was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Discharge of a Firearm from a Moving Vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
