Rapid City collected over $50.82 million in sales tax revenue from January through July 2025—up 3.57% from the same period in 2024. July alone brought in a record $8.14 million, marking the first time the city has seen two consecutive months above $8 million.

- Tourism Tax: $3.55M (+3.72%), with July up 6.18% year-over-year.
- Capital Improvement Fund: $13.68M (+3.41%), funding infrastructure upgrades.
- Vision Fund: $9.9M (+3.41%), backing legacy projects like The Monument.
City Finance Director Daniel Ainslie said the summer numbers exceeded expectations and hopes the trend continues. Sales tax collections have risen in 59 of the last 62 months.
