UNION COUNTY – A Union County 4-H member is preparing to represent South Dakota at one of the nation’s premier livestock events.
Carley Crist of Wakonda has been selected to join South Dakota’s delegation for the 2026 North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky. Crist, the daughter of Michael and Annie Crist, earned her spot through strong performances in statewide qualifying events focused on livestock, animal science and agricultural education.
As part of the state delegation, Crist will compete against teams from across the country in events including the National 4-H Livestock Judging Contest, Livestock Skill-A-Thon and Livestock Quiz Bowl.
Union County 4-H Educator Laurie Fritsch says earning a place on the state team requires months of preparation, study and dedication. Crist’s selection is being celebrated as a proud achievement for Union County as she prepares for the national competition in Louisville.
