The South Dakota Department of Public Safety has identified the driver killed in a single-vehicle crash earlier this month as 70-year-old Anthony Arthur Grenstiner of Sturgis.
Grenstiner died on October 5 at a Rapid City hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries in the crash, which occurred on October 3.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Grenstiner was driving through the intersection of Sturgis Road and Freedom Lane when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a road sign, entered a ditch, and collided with a telephone pole.
Authorities confirmed that Grenstiner was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
