Two Rapid City residents were arrested early Friday morning in connection with an assault that left a woman hospitalized with serious injuries.
The incident occurred around 2:05 a.m. on October 10, when officers responded to a report of an assault in the 1600 block of Mount Rushmore Road. Upon arrival, police found a woman who reported being attacked by two individuals using rocks. She was transported by medical personnel to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Shortly after, officers located two individuals matching witness descriptions near the intersection of Flormann Street and 7th Street. The suspects were identified as 39-year-old Alphonso Badhand and 34-year-old Denna Andrews, both of Rapid City.
A search of Badhand revealed several rocks with what appeared to be fresh blood. Witnesses at the scene positively identified both individuals as the assailants.
Badhand and Andrews were arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault and booked into the Pennington County Jail.
