The South Dakota Department of Health has confirmed that the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program continues to operate normally despite the ongoing federal government shutdown.
“There is no disruption to South Dakota WIC services,” said Secretary of Health Melissa Magstadt. “Families should keep their scheduled appointments as usual.”
The department is closely monitoring the situation and will notify participants of any changes. WIC provides essential support including nutritious food, breastfeeding assistance, and access to community resources.
“Our priority is ensuring families continue to receive the care and nutrition they rely on,” Magstadt added.
