A 55-year-old man from Newcastle, Wyoming, died Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 85, approximately 22 miles north of Newcastle.
According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, John Fowler was riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy when he failed to navigate a curve, struck a driveway at high speed, and was launched roughly 130 feet before colliding with a tree. Investigators estimate the motorcycle was traveling over 100 mph at the time of the crash.
Authorities say alcohol may have been a factor, and both speed and possible impairment are under investigation.
Fowler’s death marks the 103rd fatality on Wyoming roads this year, up from 89 in 2024 but below the 119 recorded in 2023.
