RAPID CITY, S.D. – Photographers across the Black Hills are being invited to submit their work for Afterimage, a juried exhibition exploring the connection between photography and memory.
The Rapid City Arts Council says the show will examine how photographs preserve, shape, and even create memories. The exhibit welcomes a wide range of styles, including documentary, portrait, landscape, abstract, conceptual, and alternative photography.
The competition features three categories: Youth, Adult Amateur or Hobbyist, and Adult Experienced or Professional. Cash prizes include category awards, a $125 Best of Show prize, and a $100 People’s Choice Award.
The submission deadline is January 8th, 2027. Youth entries are free, while adult entries cost $10 per photograph.
Selected works will be displayed at the Dahl Arts Center from February 19th through April 3rd, 2027. An opening reception and awards presentation will be held on February 19th and will be free to attend.
Photographers can submit their entries online through the Dahl Arts Center website.
