RAPID CITY, S.D. – Several Rapid City Area Schools buildings will release students early Thursday because of high temperatures and ongoing heat-related conditions.
The affected schools are Grandview, Horace Mann, Meadowbrook, Rapid Valley, Robbinsdale, Pinedale, South Canyon, South Park and Wilson elementary schools, along with North Middle School.
District officials say school buses will operate on an adjusted schedule, and all after-school activities at those schools have been canceled for Thursday.
The district says the early dismissal is intended to help keep students and staff safe and comfortable during the ongoing heat.
A districtwide early release is already scheduled for Friday, September 4. Families with questions about dismissal times or transportation are encouraged to contact their child’s school.
